On 8th October 2024, the Joffe Trust convened a cross-sector roundtable on the UK’s upcoming evaluation by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in 2027.

This was our next cross-sector event to accelerate the UK’s fight against economic crime. Expert participants attended from government, the private sector and civil society. We are grateful to the City of London Police Authority for co-hosting the meeting.

The well informed and collegiate discussion covered important insights about the FATF’s evaluation process, lessons from the UK’s last evaluation in 2018, and opportunities for the UK’s upcoming evaluation in 2027.

As well as sharing hard won experience, participants identified specific actions that could be started now to make the most of the next evaluation.

Senior government attention is already focused on achieving a positive evaluation. There was general appetite to work towards aligning this with reforms that make a real difference, such as those set out in Economic Crime Plan 2.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss this further.
