We are delighted to have made eight final ‘legacy grants’ under our ‘Focus Area 2 – Strengthening High Potential Non-Profits’ grant programme.

The following organisations will each receive £50,000 core funding per year over four years:

These grants are part of our plans to spend down the Trust’s resources by around 2030. We hope they provide recipients with some stability, breathing space and flexibility, so they can keep achieving great things.

The eight recipients work on diverse issues from accountability for civilian casualties to the rights of people with disabilities and reforming the way economics is taught.  But they all work in a way that we believe moves ‘beyond aid’ to a more progressive and respectful model of international cooperation. Some seek to reform UK policy in solidarity with people in low-income countries, while others work with international partners on shared issues such as unsustainable debt or menstrual justice.

The grants were awarded after a competitive process. 15 former and current Joffe Trust grantees were shortlisted and asked to submit a brief proposal. We gave each £2,000 to help fund this process. Every proposal we received showed incredibly impressive impact and future potential. The final decision was very close. We are sorry that we could not fund everyone we would have liked to.

Our Focus Area 2 grant programme is closed to any further applications in the future. Our Focus Area 1 programme remains open for grant applications around improving financial integrity in the UK until around 2030.
